Customer Review: Great, but don't expect miracles.

Out of all the smokeless ashtray's offered, I have found this to be the best. As a matter of fact, after I received my first, I ordered another. I bought the chrome-looking one with the adapter. One, I keep on my night table lugged in, the other I'm using as a portable with batteries. I can always plug it in, if I have to. Most of the complaints written by reviewer's dwell on the fact that it doesn't clear the smoke out of the room, and that it doesn't come with an on/off switch. As far as clearing the room smoke, you have to buy an Ionic Pro or a Heppa Air Filter, to do that. And beleve me, they cst a lot more than a $20.00 ashtray. I am a heavy smoker and for awhile I couldn't figure out where the smoke was going. Most smokeless astray's suck the smoke thru the bottom and in doing so, suck the ashes into the motor housing. After plugging it in, I noticed a strong breeze blowig out the bottom, but the filter is in the lid. I finally realized that the smoke was being pulled thru the filter in the lid, with the fresher air blowing out the bottom. Again, the fan is quite powerful. The ashray is large enough to hold 10-15 butts and cleans out with just a wipe. I don't recommend loading up the ashtray, as you MUST be sure all butts are out before closing the lid all the way. I mention this because I closd the lid once while a cigg butt was still smoldering and when I opened it, the butt was stuck to the filter (Live and learn). And by the way, the chrome look finish is very attractive and looks like a trinket box when fully closed. It is not too loud, just loud enough to know it's on, so there is NO reason for an on/off switch to drain electricity if you forget to turn it off. Now when I drop a butt in the tray, I let it run for a minute and don't close the lid all the way until all butts are out. And when it is closed all the way there are no nasty butts or ashes in sight. The protestors don't realize how many times they leave a cigarette in an ashray, only to find the cigarette burnt out or smoldering againt the butt of another cigarette (Nasty smell). All in all, I am truly happy with this purchase, and would recommend it to anyone that wants to see or smell thru the haze.
