Customer Review: Does the job. But better features needed.
Summary: 3 Stars
Pro: 1)Heating element is coated so clean up is easier if you do routinely clean it. 2)It works faster and noisier on high, and quieter and slower on low.
Con:1) no humidity indicator that tells you when the unit is working. The humidity switch is more like guess work, one never knows where to turn it in order to indicate that the humidity level has been reached. 2) one has to unplug the unit when refilling, plug it back on, set the switch to reset, then turn in on before the unit will start(if the humidity switch is on high). Too many steps to go through just to turn it on and refilling the tank. 3) one has to be very careful when returning the tank into the unit after refilling. you have to make sure the tank is nested and line up just right or water will spill and overflow when you least expected. (ruined my hardwood floor)
Without all the guess work, the unit works fine. I had one that worked for 4 years, then the little plug(made of rubber) inside the tank that controls the water flow started to crack and become brittle. I called customer service, and they agree to sent me a new unit if I return to them the cut electric cord of the old one. So I did, and received a brand new one. So no complain in that department. This was back in 2005.

Adjustable and easy to use, the unit features a 1.8-gallon tank that is easy to remove, carry, and fill. The unit can run up to 24 hours on one tank and has a maximum output of 3 gallons per day. Two speed settings and a dial-controlled humidistat--ranging from 25 to 65 percent humidity--let you tailor output to your needs. Other helpful structural details include automatic safety shut-off, a dishwasher-safe tray, power and reset lights, and a locking mechanism on the motor housing.
